About

A UNESCO biosphere reserve of lagoons, mangrove channels and reef running south from Tulum, covered by boat with a local guide who reads the wildlife better than any brochure could. Flamingos, spoonbills, crocodiles and dolphins all turn up depending on the season, and a lifejacket float through a shallow mangrove canal is usually the highlight. Bring cash, sun protection and a change of clothes, this is a full day on the water with lunch included on most itineraries.
